Senator Metcalf moved that Board approve lease executed by Mobile Foundation to U. of S. A. and Foundation seek to secure a understanding with Board of School Commissioners on (a) substituting the forty acres lying north of the existing lease for optioned land to the west, and (2) seek an understanding with the Board of School Commissioners on the entire six hundred forty acres of the section. Mr. Cleverdon read bids for instructional laboratories building and parking area. Acceptance of low bid of $989,971.00 by Martin Builders. Mr. Cleverdon gave plan for financing construction of the project and equipping the building. Senator Metcalf moved to amend the resolution of 10-18-64 to read as follows: BE IT RESOLVED - recognizes base bid of $989,971.00. BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED - Martin Bldrs. be awarded contract and the President be authorized to sign contract and he or his delegate(s) be authorized to carry out all business on University's part pertaining to this contact. BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED - Executive Committee be authorized to arrange financing for the construction of a classroom and laboratory bldg. Executive Committee to borrow amount not to exceed $250,000.00 and an additional amount not to exceed $550,000.00 under Title III of Public Law 88-204, Higher Education Facilities Act of 1963 and to pledge tuition fees. BE IT RESOLVED - President of University or delegate be authorized to arrange for grants. Mr. Cleverdon presented faculty resolution Addendum #1. Approval of Benson Company to complete plans for dormitories and provide for supervision of construction.
