About the IBC
The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) of the Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ is responsible for reviewing and approving all research proposals (protocols) and teaching activities conducted by faculty, staff, students that involves the use of infectious and potentially infectious agents, human and non-human primate materials, and biological toxins.
The primary functions of the IBC include, but are not limited to:
- Recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules
- Biological agents classified as Risk Group1,
- Risk Groups 1, 2, 3, and 4 in the NIH Guidelines
- Research involving select agents, as listed by the USDA and CDC
- Use of investigational biological products or biologics, including human gene products and therapies in human subjects.
- Conducting annual inspections of registered research laboratories
